KINGS SAD DAY
- CONTEMPORARY ARTIST
The contemporary artist named Kings Sad Day, first made his way in the in scene in 2016 as just K.S.D. The artist was born in Saint-Louis, Senegal and raised in a small village in the south of the Netherlands. His dad was Dutch and his mother Malian. At a young age the artist was always drawing, every chance he had he drew, whether it was on paper, tables or even walls in the house. Frequently mocked for the stories behind the drawings and the sound-effects he made while drawing caused him to stop drawing when he was around people. The naturally introverted artist discovered that he could express his feelings through the drawings he made and so he did. Over the years Kings Sad Day made multiple paintings that didn’t see the light of the day. This was because the paintings were too personal for the public eye to see. In 2015 K.S.D. sold his first artwork after winning a art contest. In the start of 2016, the artist made a range of artworks based of the loss, depression and self-hate. All these artworks were considered too personal to share and so most of these works never saw daylight.
BACK TO THE PAINT
Kings Sad Day lost track of time working as a successful creative director. He rarely made artworks anymore between 2017 and 2018 the artist made only one artwork, due to his busy work schedule.
It was until 2019 where he decided to restart painting as a way to clear his mind from his fast and busy life. But the painting were visibly different due to the more unfiltered pieces. The to some extent erotic paintings, where much loved by the new viewers.
THE 7th DAY COLLECTION
A collection inspired by the days of creation with a modern philosophy implemented in the artworks. Each artwork is unique to the other yet also similar is some areas. The pieces all carry a different story with a lot of hidden messages; something the artist is known for: “the longer you look at the his works the more hidden features you’ll notice”. It’s not always about what is painted, but sometimes more about the way it’s presented.
